Background…
Chris Bird is the founder of ‘ecoce’ and
has spent the previous 4-years researching and developing the business.
He has lived in Sydney and overseas for the past 12-years, studying
and working in the building and organic food industries, although more
recently in the tourism industry.
With overwhelming support from local community groups and like-minded
businesses, Chris hopes to create a platform for better understanding
the environment in which we live, by offering ecologically sound alternatives
to various aspects of everyday living.
Aims...
Our primary
aim is to promote ecologically sustainable living by highlighting ways
in which we can reduce our impact upon the environment throughout all
aspects of society. This includes administering the following aims within
the various elements of our surrounding environment, including the:
- Built
Environment… showcase alternative building techniques
and land management systems
- Natural
Environment… utilise minimal impact practices and conserve
natural eco-systems
- Cultural
Environment… promote cultural awareness and establish
community trade associations.
Philosophy…
Our commitment
is to a more ecologically sustainable future! This will be achieved
by exploring natural, organic alternatives and innovative design processes
that reflect community interest, enhance consumer awareness and effectively
reduce our overall environmental impact.
All possible aspects of our business adhere to the following guidelines:
- Environmental
Sustainability… preservation of biodiversity and
natural heritage, the responsible use of natural resources and prevention
of pollution and waste
- Social
Responsibility… respect the integrity of local cultures,
the importance of indigenous communities and the conservation of
cultural heritage and social structure
- Economic
Viability… committed to cooperate with communities
and people to use local products and skills where possible.
We will endeavour
to maintain these principles, so as to have enterprising, environmentally
aware communities that are practical, dynamic and healthy places to
live and work. In doing so we hope to inspire, educate and inform our
clients to better understand and manage the resources they use, whilst
ensuring the survival and growth of the region’s biodiversity,
cultural heritage and built environment for future generations to embrace
and enjoy.
Membership…
We
are a member of the Ethical Enterprise Network, which is a national

profitable business. We are also actively involved with various community
groups and hold memberships with a number of non-government organisations
(NGO’s) working to protect all aspects of the environment.
