Background
Chris Bird is the founder of Ecoce and
has spent the past 4-years researching the project. Having previously
worked in the areas of energy-efficient building design, organic wholesale/retail
and ecotourism; Chris hopes to utilise his extensive knowledge and experience
from these industries to establish a business that is environmentally
sensitive, readily available to the community and commercially viable
in the current economic climate. With support from local community groups
and like-minded individuals and businesses, Chris hopes to create a
platform for better understanding the environment in which we live,
by offering ecologically sound alternatives to various aspects of everyday
living.
Aims
Our primary aim is to promote
ecologically sustainable living by highlighting ways in which we can
reduce our impact upon the environment throughout all aspects of society.
This includes administering the following aims within the various elements
of our surrounding environment, including the:
· Built Environment… showcase alternative
building techniques and land management systems
· Cultural Environment… promotes cultural
awareness and establishes community relationships
· Natural Environment… utilise minimal
impact practices and conserve natural eco-systems.
Philosophy
Our commitment is to a more
ecologically sustainable future! This will be achieved by exploring
natural, eco-friendly alternatives and innovative design processes that
reflect community interest enhance consumer awareness and effectively
reduce our overall environmental impact.
We will endeavour to maintain these principles, so as to have enterprising,
environmentally aware communities that are practical, dynamic and healthy
places to live and work. In doing so we hope to inspire, educate and
inform our clients to better understand and manage the resources they
use, whilst ensuring the survival and growth of the region’s biodiversity,
cultural heritage and built environment for future generations to enjoy.
